elmt, pronounced as “element”, is a brand new Korean beauty skincare brand that came to light last month. They have launched their range on the Wishtrend website. Their approach is to step outside of the industry norms, creating and bringing never seen skincare solution formulas to the market, fulfilling your skin’s missing element by nurturing it. Their scientists research and combine the perfect ingredients together with the right ratio, allowing the ingredients to work in synergy to bring out their benefits further. Innovation is certainly key in their USP.

elmt Skin Activating Solution

Green Tea Complex 58% & Chinese Skullcap 14.7%.

First up is elmt Skin Activating Solution. The combination of green tea complex and Chinese skullcap claims to:
– reduce acne through antibacterial, anti-inflammatory effects,
– provide relief from inflammation & free-radicals,
– improve the skin’s moisture barrier,
and is best suited for those whose skin suffers from fine lines, dry, and or acne-prone skin.

I pour three drops into my hands, gently massaging it into the skin (with any excess onto the neck), then tapping it ensuring it’s fully absorbed into the skin. Let’s just say, my skin immediately absorbs the watery texture without leaving any sticky residue or tightness on the skin. Instead, it leaves the skin prepped and ready for the incoming serums and creams.

Us oily skinners still need moisture in our skin no matter what. Sebum doesn’t actually keep our skin moisturised, it just locks it in. Our skin could still suffer from dehydration but for some people (like myself), there are no obvious tell tales of our skin crying out for moisture. This toner is actually a brilliant complement to anyone’s skincare routine. It helps the serums and creams penetrate better and quicker into the skin, leaving my skin moisturised, soft and healthy every time. Because of this, my skin has improved a lot since incorporating it into my routine. There’s a hint of a, dare I say it, glow at the end of my routine which I adore – something I’ve never thought I’d ever say.

In terms of providing relief from inflammation and everything around it, it’s helped calm the redness on the side of my nose, though not a big difference yet noticeable. Keep in mind I’ve only tested this for two weeks, however, I have high hopes for better results with prolonged use. Spots wise, I’m not entirely sure if it had helped aid the healing process, it’s hard to tell. It’s not broken me out or made my skin oilier which is a total win-win. I seriously can’t get enough of it.

Niacinamide 10%, Grape Extract & Pomegranate Extract 51.91%.

elmt Skin Illuminating Solution blends niacinamide, grape extract and pomegranate extract to:
– uncover skin’s natural radiance,
– improve the appearance of dark spots & uneven skin tone,
– prevent dullness,
and is best suited for dull, dry and or acne-prone skin.

There’s a lot of hype about niacinamide in recent years. I’ve heard so much about it hence it became a buzzword in my dictionary. In a way, I sort of had high hopes of this toner because of this one ingredient, but maybe I shouldn’t have.

It is not as watery as the Activating solution, a tad on the slightly sticky side and doesn’t get fully absorbed into the skin. It seems to leave a slight residue that you can feel on your skin afterwards. I can compare the feeling of the residue to the feeling of my skin’s oils and it can be offputting for some. You can say I’m not a big fan. I’ve applied this both with a cotton pad and my hands seeing if there is any difference when it comes to absorbency, however not so much. I wonder if this residue is essentially their “illuminating” effect? Not really the glass skin effect although that’s not really a priority of mine anyway.

Apart from the rest of the skincare taking slightly longer to be absorbed into the skin afterwards, there weren’t any major issues in general e.g. no breakouts. During my 2 week test, I haven’t seen any slight improvements as the radiance glow seems to be temporary together with the price of a leftover residue. Sadly this isn’t the toner for me. In contrast, my sister quite likes it herself as her skin type is more on the dry and sensitive end of the scale.

The packaging inside and out is absolutely lush and to die for. It’s aesthetically pleasing. Here is a note regarding their box from their Instagram:

The glass bottle just makes it feel luxurious. elmt has hit the nail on the head on every packaging aspect. I simply can’t fault it. They currently have four products – two I have mentioned above as well as Gentle Exfoliating Solution and Advanced Calming Solution; different toners to suit different needs. My first impression was just bloody great! Thank you for introducing the Skin Activating Solution to me. I simply can’t wait to watch this brand grow and what its future products will entail.
