I always find it hard to find the perfect pink lipstick. All of the ones I like end up looking barbie pink, washed out or a bit too bright for my liking. I do have the perfect nude, pink lipstick but at times, I would like a little bit of oomph, something different. This is where mauve lipsticks came into my life. The pink purple shade is perfect if you’re not brave enough to wear red or bright lipsticks or you want a change. There are many mauve lippes out there that makes me look washed out but these are the ones that are in my collection that I absolutely love.
For a wearable everyday look, I always pick up Colourpop Lippie Stix in Lumière. It’s such a reliable, fail proof shade no matter what the occasion is as this has become my most used lipstick ever. If you want to step up your everyday game and don’t fancy a nude, you need to get your hands on this. This is known to be a dupe for the NARS Audacious lipstick in Anna.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in StingRAYE is the deepest mauve shade I own and was only a limited edition. A dupe for the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny, this is perfect if you can’t decide whether to wear a brown or a berry. This is the combination of both. Browns aren’t my thing but I love the mauve tone to this.
NYX Soft Matte Lip cream in Budapest is the first NYX Lip Cream I had purchased. A deep mauve with red undertone gives red lips a run for it’s money. This may sound over the top but it’s the perfect date night shade. Wear it and you’ll see why. Also, I love the sweet scent of this range.
I’m not sure why but Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Cher is my jam. Described as a medium rosy brown with warm undertones, there’s something about it that just works. Just looking at the swatch above, it looks like it’s a darker shade of Lumière. The two would go great together as natural ombre lip.
Revlon Colourburst Balm in Sultry is the brightest out of the lot. On my lips, this appears as a raspberry mauve. Initially, it wasn’t sure about this but it grew on me. I can’t get it to work on tanned skin but it’s beautiful when I’m not tanned. Now I’m waiting to get my pasty skin back so I can wear this more.
Essence Lipliner in Soft Berry is also another dupe for Androgyny. Honestly, I bought this for that exact reason and at just £1, it’s not exactly breaking the bank. I was surprised at how well this lip liner had performed on it’s own. If it’s still hard to get your hands on Androgyny, this is a great alternative.
Do you have a mauve lippie?
