CD MARITIME STIPES

I have received this off my auntie last year along with some other Dior goodies. I love the concept of this, with the idea of transparent nail stickers and thought it would definitely be easy to use. Also, who doesn’t love Dior nail polishes. In this nail manicure set, you get a nail polish (either in Sailor – a blue, Captain – a red or Yacht – a beige), transparent nail stickers, a nail file and instructions. Easy nail art right? It was released last year and they have definitely chosen a great nautical theme overall.

Reading the instructions, I was required to paint 2 coats first. One coat of this was sheer, two coats was near enough perfect but I had applied three coats just to be 101% perfect. Sailor is probably the most beautiful blue nail polish I own. A cobalt blue, ahhh it’s perfect. I will definitely be wearing this often. As with other Dior polishes I’ve tried, it had a great drying time.

Once the nail polish has fully, properly dried, it was time for the nail stickers. And oh boy, it was a lot harder than I thought. I never was a fan of full nail stickers and this definitely didn’t change my opinion. There are only 6 sizes to choose from which is a slight disadvantage but they seem to fit my nails perfectly. The sticker didn’t seem too sticky when my skin touches it but when it was applied onto the nail, it adhered like glue. I did make a few mistakes on placing the stickers (slight OCD here), so I would gently peel it off but had noticed it had taken some polish with it too.

As with other full nail stickers, I couldn’t get the stickers to be smooth therefore resulting in folds and not properly stuck on. It does annoy me. It’s the same with applying a screen protector onto my phone and you get that odd bubble – it’s that exact same feeling. I had to file the excess off, the second easiest job.

Up close, I did a horrendous job but from afar, it looks great. You can’t see the flaws and that’s all that matters I guess. The outcome is beautiful when done correctly but had found it tricky to use. I am currently on day 2 and there’s no sign of chipping without the use of a top coat and can see it lasting 5 days. This might be because of the stickers. As I am a perfectionist, I am going to remove it and redo my nails.

If you had the patience or know how to properly use the stickers, this would be perfect. It would make a great gift too. Dior nail polishes are generally £18.50 each but this is £22.00. You cannot buy the nail polishes from the set separately unfortunately. You also cannot purchase the stickers separately. I need to learn how to apply stickers perfectly.

Have you tried any of the Dior Manucure Transat sets? If anyone has any tips on how to apply full nail stickers properly, please share!

I don't think I'd have the time or patience for these, they look really fiddly! However I do love the concept 🙂 x

What a stunning shade of blue! I'm horrible at applying nail stickers, I just don't have the patience or the steady hands. I do like the design of them though!

hmmm I love the nail polish color but those stickers are indeed a nightmare to wear! also, i believe there's plenty of drugstore brands that do gorgeous navy blues, I'm not a big spender for that…

That's the reason I don't like those too much because of the fact that I would need it to be perfect and it needs to be very simple and easy!

I like the look of these, but they just sound too fiddly for regular use! Still, it might be the kind of thing that really proves that 'practice makes perfect'!

I think you've done a great job for a first time effort but I don't blame you for wanting to take it off and start over…I'm the kind of person who does that when I even get a smudge on one nail!

I've never got the hang of getting nail wraps to sit flat on my nails either, I've heard that heating them with a hairdryer first helps but have never actually tried it! They're lovely designs, either way 🙂
