Urban Decay De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray Travel Size: £9.00

MELTDOWN AVERTED

I’ve never used a setting spray before as my makeup doesn’t really melt much but when it states “oil control”, I am intrigued. I had purchased the travel sized product which contains 30ml and is good for those who want to trial the product. I have tested this out in two methods. The first was doing as directed on the box. It states to spray it like an ‘X’ then a ‘T’ shape however I find that spraying like an “X” is enough for my small face. This original method wasn’t really effective. The second method was to spray it after moisturiser and after makeup, both using the “X” shape. This had worked out a lot better.

To compare the oil control with and without this product, I have used my trusty Clean and Clear oil absorbing sheets. These sheets have been used after around 8 hours of wearing makeup on both occasions. Without this spray, the oil absorbing sheets would turn transparent on all areas on the sheets; disgusting I know. With this spray and the second method, the oil absorbing sheets are not transparent whatsoever. The sheets still absorbs the oil but is a lot, lot less. This product is impressive stuff! Didn’t need to touch up during the day but was a tad oily at the end.

This sprays out a fine mist but it does take a while to dry. Once it’s dried, you won’t be able to feel it; it is really lightweight. There are no breakouts, no irritations and no scent. If you spray this over your powdery, matte look, your makeup will not have the cakey look anymore. It will have a demi matte finish. I have heard that spraying it on a brush first then sweeping it over the face before and after makeup is the best method. I will have to test it out. I would most definitely repurchase this in the full sized bottle.

Have you tried this product or other setting sprays before?

I tried this product once but it didnt he'll control my oil which is my main problem.
But after reading this maybe I'll try it again
I just don't want to pay for it and add it to my list of disappointing oil control products
    Great post though 🙂 x

I've never tried a setting spray before, but I feel like it would be a really good thing to invest in for long nights out. Sometimes though I just spray on some diluted rose water on my face to refresh and to set my make up (at least that's what I tell myself). 🙂

I have and use this and I still get a little oily throughout the day, but when used too often, my skin started flaking a little (over-drying from the alcohol) good for once in a while though!

Interesting. Somehow I can't quite believe a liquid can control oil! Good review though. I'll test it out when I'm next in Boots or Debenhams, although I haven't been blessed with a small face like you so I'll probably need an X, T, Y and Z spray :/

My favourite setting spray! It leaves my skin slightly taut for awhile though but I haven't found any other setting spray that help keep my oiliness under control. Great review!

I haven't tried this, i'm afraid I use the old fashion method of shine absorbing powder, but this certainly looks interesting. I will seek it out!

This sounds great! I've been trying to find a really good setting spray but so far no luck. They're just not 'strong' enough to keep my makeup on.

I've been thinking about getting this bad boy…I wasn't sure if it was that good or not. But if it passes a Nicole test, than it's for sure something I would love to test out.
