Maybelline Instant Anti-Age The Eraser Eye Concealer in Light: £8.99

GOJI EXTRACTS

So much rave about this but does it live up to it? Being released in the UK not long ago, this only comes in two shades, light and nude which means that there is a disadvantage straight away for those who are lighter or darker.

It’s soft, light, creamy and easily blendable. For me, I would require two layers to get better coverage. Luckily it didn’t cake but it did accentuate the dry patches but not a drying concealer. Even after one layer, it had brightened up the eye area as well as a decent amount of coverage. Can see a visible difference in person when comparing it to the other side however not completely covered. It gives a light to medium coverage but I require full coverage with my bad under eye circles which the camera cannot pick up. I actually do get oily around the eye area and did find it made my eyeliner smudge therefore I require setting it with powder. Still made my eyeliner smudge a bit at the end of the day. In general, a powder is required to set it as the concealer leaves a slight greasy feeling which isn’t an oily girls best friend.

This is a nifty little applicator. A twisting function with a sponge applicator. I always get paranoid about my eye area and scared of scratching it but this sponge is soft enough to be used. I’m not really a big fan in using it to buff in, prefer using a brush or my fingers. Not a fan of the sponge in general because I don’t find it hygenic and like I said, I’m paranoid about the area. You can control the amount of product to twist but I actually find it hard to see how much I’m twisting up especially after it’s been used leading me to think there’s product wastage even though you don’t need that much.

You can see how much product is left and this will last me ages. This is a decent concealer but doesn’t live up to my expectations.

Have you tried this concealer before and what were your thoughts?

I've been using this concealer for a while now, and I have to agree it didn't really live up to my expectations either. I'm not too keen on the applicator, mainly because I can only think of it as unhygienic – though I did like the formula.

  4. I quite liked the idea of a sponge applicator, but I can see the downsides after your review. I think I might still buy this one though.

I've never found a concealer that works for me. I use touche eclat highlighter instead and it seems to do the best job I've found so far X

i totally agree with everything you said – i love how it brightens but i'm a bit concerned about hygiene and i hate how i don't know how much product is going to apply!
